Everyone has been down in the doldrums at one time or the other, even for brief moments.
The dictionary defines the doldrums as “a state or period of inactivity, stagnation, or depression”
It is a time when you become engulfed with heaviness, so much so, that you don’t want to sing, or even hear cheerful songs; but you can pray.
When you are in this state; apart from crying out to God for help, you can always request for handfuls of purpose.
What Are Handfuls Of Purpose?
Handfuls of purpose are gifts distributed on purpose just for you. These gifts, which are tailored-made for your circumstances, will help make you happy again, restore your soul, give you peace of mind, and much more.
The concept comes from the story of Ruth – the Moabitess, who went gleaning at harvest time in a field belonging to Boaz. When Boaz saw Ruth, he admired her determination, and respected her effort in working to provide for herself and for her widowed mother-in-law, Naomi. To assist her, Boaz commanded his reapers to “Pull out some handful of stalks of grain from the bundles and leave them on purpose on the ground for her.” ~ Ruth 2:15-16
Asking For Handfuls On Purpose
Are you are in the doldrums? Then ask God to provide you with something to help lift you out.
To ask for “handfuls of purpose”; do not specify what you want or need, or give a time limit for God to answer you. You simply cry out to God in faith from the depth of your soul, for handfuls of purpose to lift you out of the doldrums. Yes, say those actual words “God give me handfuls on purpose at this time, in Jesus’ name I pray. Thanks Lord.”
This is not saying that you are to regard God as a genie in a bottle, for He has instructed you to cast all your care upon him for he careth for you ~ 1 Pet. 5:7; as well as to ask for things, in his name, and you will receive, that your joy may be overflowing ~ John 16:24b.
Some examples of handfuls of purpose may include the words of a song; a phone call from a friend; a scripture passage; a memory; tangible items; a video sermon with a message just for you; the ability to fall asleep; opportunities; renewed zeal; sensing God’s presence; insight and understanding about a matter; and so on.
Although a handful is not anything big; you should not limit God. If he chooses to answer you in big ways or small ways, give him thanks, and get out of the doldrums.
